High-availability Network Topology Project for Mine Site
In this project, BESTECH was responsible for designing and implementing a high-availability network topology for a mine site. We installed two Cisco core switches, configured as a virtual logical switch, and established a redundant network with dual Ethernet trunks. The project significantly improved the mine's network resilience against hardware and cable failures. The project demanded the creation of a new network topology for a mine site, aiming to provide high availability and redundancy for all critical Ethernet switches. This was essential to maintain uninterrupted network connectivity throughout the mine, even in the event of hardware or cable failures.
BESTECH was entrusted with managing this critical project. We designed, installed, and commissioned a network topology featuring two Cisco core switches configured to operate as a single virtual logical switch. We ensured that all critical Ethernet switches had dual Ethernet trunks connected to each core switch. Additionally, network uplinks from each edge switch were terminated using separate fibre cores, providing comprehensive redundancy.
Key Features:
- Implementation of two Cisco core switches as a single virtual logical switch.
- Dual Ethernet trunk configuration for all critical Ethernet switches.
- Utilization of separate fibre cores from two shaft cables for full redundancy.
- Meticulous planning and execution to ensure uninterrupted network availability.
- Commissioning of a network system designed to withstand core switch, fibre cable, or edge switch failures.
BESTECH’s management and execution of this project resulted in a highly resilient network topology for the mine site. The new implementation significantly enhanced the reliability of the network, ensuring continuous operations even in the face of potential hardware and infrastructure failures.
