Your role as Structural Engineering Intern

Job summary

Reporting to the Manager of Structural Engineering Services, the Structural Engineering Intern will be working under the guidance and supervision of senior engineers. The Structural Engineering Intern is responsible for performing calculations, drafting designs, and assisting with project management tasks. They assist in the development of engineering deliverables and participate in site visits and inspections to review engineering systems as required.  They are expected to  apply engineering principles, ensure accuracy in their work, and effectively communicate with team members and clients.


Your key accountabilities

  • Technical and Documentation
    • Perform analysis and design for a variety of structural systems to applicable codes and regulations under the guidance of licensed professional engineers.
    • Develop structural engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports under the guidance of licensed professional engineers and senior designers.
    • Conduct site visits for data collection and QAQC during construction.
    • Conduct site visits under supervision to perform structural assessments, identify potential deficiencies, and provide recommendations for remedial action.
    • Collaborate with our multi-disciplinary team to develop comprehensive design solutions that meet project requirements and objectives.
  • Project Coordination and Management
    • Assist with planning and executing project tasks.
    • Assist in tracking project progress and reporting issues.
    • Provides administrative support to project teams.
  • Professional Development
    • Participate in training and certification programs, as required.
    • Attend relevant industry workshops and seminars, as required.
    • Engage in learning opportunities to develop technical and professional skills.

Qualifications

  • A degree in structural or civil engineering is required.
  • Knowledge of structural design principles, industry codes and regulations is required.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD is required.
  • Familiarity with using structural analysis software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites applications.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high quality work.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable design practices.
  • Willingness to travel as required and attend meetings and field visits at client sites.
  • Valid Drivers License is required.

Type or Salary Range

Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours/week)
