Your role as Mine Engineer

Job summary

Reporting to the Manager of Mining Engineering Services, as a Mine Engineer, you will work closely with our mining team and other disciplines, with responsibility for evaluating and designing mine systems to ensure the optimal functioning of mining operations. You will lead, coordinate, and streamline a diverse array of engineering activities.


Your key accountabilities

  • Mine Design and Planning:
    • Design and update ventilation models using Ventsim software.
    • Complete mine design and scheduling using Deswik software.
    • Review mine designs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines in the design of infrastructure.
    • Prepare and interpret drawings, layouts, and other visual aids.
    • Prepare specifications and documents in accordance with client and regulatory requirements.
  • Technical Problem Solving:
    • Provide innovative solutions to technical problems.
    • Identify and communicate technical problems, processes, and solutions.
  • Project Participation:
    • Participate in projects using engineering principles and techniques, considering the implications of issues such as cost, safety, and time constraints.
    • Contribute to the design elements of projects.
  • Bidding and Proposals:
    • Participate in bidding projects and proposal writing.
    • Assist in the preparation of capital cost estimates.
  • Business Development:
    • Engage in business development efforts to support company growth.
  • Travel:
    • Willingness to travel and visit client sites as required.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, or related engineering degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with Ventsim and Deswik software is considered a strong asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with exceptional report writing skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, conflict resolution, decision-making, and time management skills.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment to meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel as required and attend meetings and field visits on client sites.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for client site visits.

Type or Salary Range

Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours/week)
